This week I travelled down to the village of Nuenen near Eindhoven. On September 20th 1944, E company of the 506th PIR went on a reconaissance mission to this village to make contact with the enemy. This mission is shown in Band of Brothers Part 4: Replacements.
The mission in the series is shown as a much bigger attack than it actually was, and also the location of the attack is portrayed wrong in the series.. With the help of Tom Peeters, owner of http://www.ww2marketgarden.com, I was able to reconstruct the mission of E-Company in a video. This will tell you the exact location of where E-Company got in contact with the Germans in Nuenen.
For your interest I’ve also created a map with all the locations shown in the video. This will make it much easier for you to get to the different sites when visiting Nuenen: http://drive.google.com/open?id=1kII7zSfa9y8BldQ_tMNdv6Ql-IE&usp=sharing

Hey! I live across the road from the place with the wood stored up.
Fijne informatie over de echte gebeurtenissen en de nagemake in de serie…super bedankt
Thanks for creating this video. I recently listened to a description of this incident in an audio version of David Webster’s book “Parachute Infantry” and was confused about the location/action. You answered my questions perfectly.
