Saturday May 7th it was my day to go to Militracks, a World War 2 event at the Overloon War Museum. There were vehicles you could board, there was a fair with a lot of items and you had access to the War Museum.

Image5Overloon saw heavy fightings after the failure of Operation Market garden. Even though the victory was on the allied side, the Germans had 3 times less casualties what I think was the reason for the battle remaining unknown to most people.

It was my first time visiting the Militracks event and it was amazing to see all those vehicles driving around. Compared to Ciney this is event is more suitable for kids and families, but that doesn’t make it less interesting. For only the price of €5 you could board a big variety of vehicles.

We chose the mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8 t KMm. In my mind this was a monster and I tried to imagine what it would be like to hear to engines of a Sherman or a Tiger. The ride took about 7 minutes and was really worth its money.

The fair had a lot of different items, but unfortunately nothing for my collection. We visited the museum which also had a big variety of scenes and vehicles. If you’re ever visiting the Netherlands make sure to pay a visit to the museum.

I went metal detecting after and did some cool finds so stay tuned for my next Blog! Thanks for reading.
